  1. Yesterday (1/10/09), after many consecutive days on the treadmill, I decided to run outside. The night before we had gotten a considerable snowfall (6-8 inches) and it was really pretty. The temp was a comfortable 28 degrees. As soon as I started running, I remembered why I love running again. The fresh air, the sparkling snow, and the sound of the crunching snow beneath my feet all contributed to putting me in a good mood. Running joyously, even gleefully, I started waving at children building snowmen and offering a nice "hello" (accompanied with a pleasant smile) to shovelers and walkers alike. I was a happy camper, er, runner I mean. I was enjoying myself and everything seemed to be going right.

That is, until mile 2.5. I hit an ice patch and down I went. Even my face got buried in the snow somewhat. My happy mood turned sour. Darn ice patch! Thankfully, the freshly fallen snow cushioned my fall prevented me from getting seriously hurt. At that point, I had no choice but to just finish the course and head home. My mood returned (somewhat) to its happy state as I continued running. Getting closer to home, I found myself replaying Rocky IV scenes in my head (you know, the ones where Rocky is training in the cold and snowy Russian tundra). Then I starting chuckling inside as I realized I was comparing myself to Rocky. Haha, to conclude, despite the fall, the run was a success and for the most part, enjoyable.

  2. Krista, it is unfortunate that you took a spill. Glad you are ok. At least you are starting to know where I'm coming from ;)
Today I ran on the treadmill in the great indoors.

    Total distance: 4.75 miles
    Total time: 45 minutes

Walked for 20 more minutes and did 20 minutes of pilates.

Hope I'll have time to workout this week...
